Your First 3kg Haul: What to Buy, What to Skip

Small enough to be cheap, big enough to teach you the whole workflow.

Updated 2026-10-30

Why three kilos is the right first size

It clears the minimum freight on most lines, so you are not paying for nothing, but stays cheap enough that a mistake is survivable.

It also gives you one repack, one QC cycle and one customs event — the three things that actually go wrong.

Buy these

One pair of shoes you have wanted for a while, two or three tops that are hard to get locally, and one accessory that is cheap and light.

Pick items where you already know your size in that brand. First hauls are for learning logistics, not for gambling on fit.

Skip these

Multiple pairs of shoes, anything white, anything with a hard case, and anything you need by a specific date.

Also skip the 'add one more to fill the box' instinct. Filler is how a 3kg haul becomes a 6kg bill.

The four numbers to record

Goods cost, commission, shipping, extras. Write them down once, and your second haul will be planned instead of guessed.

And keep the tracking number of the domestic leg. It is the fastest way to explain a delay later.

FAQ

How long does a first haul take?

Plan two to three weeks: a few days to the warehouse, a few for QC, then transit.

Should I consolidate on the first order?

Yes, it is the whole point of using an agent, and the saving is easiest to see on a small haul.

What is the most common first-haul mistake?

Approving QC photos without opening them at full size. Most problems are visible there.
